Replacement Bolts From a Sample

Discontinued, obsolete or OEM-specific bolt no longer available? Send us the original — broken, corroded or stripped — and we measure it, rebuild the drawing for free, and machine a compatible replacement. No part number. No CAD. No minimum.

When the Bolt is Gone and the Machine is Down

A machine stops because one bolt shears. The OEM stopped making it ten years ago. The part number brings up nothing. The supplier who used to stock it closed. This is a common situation in industrial maintenance, vintage vehicle restoration and legacy equipment repair — and it is exactly the problem EKINSUN exists to solve.

Send us the bolt — even in pieces. We measure what we can, identify the thread, gauge the material, and produce a compatible replacement that puts the machine back to work. No CAD file, no drawing, no part number required.

How It Works

  1. Send the samplePost or courier the original bolt in any condition. Include photos by email to speed up the quote. Broken shanks, corroded surfaces and stripped threads are all workable.
  2. We measure and identifyWe gauge the thread diameter, pitch and form. We measure all lengths — grip, thread, overall — and the head across flats, height and drive. We identify the material from weight, magnetic response and appearance.
  3. Free drawing, confirmed with youWe reconstruct the drawing and send it to you for approval before cutting metal. If there is anything we cannot determine from the sample, we flag it at this stage.
  4. Machine and shipWe machine the compatible replacement bolt, inspect the critical thread and dimensions, and ship. Typical turnaround 5–10 working days from receiving the sample.

Not just bolts. The same from-sample process works for any custom fastener — screws, studs, shoulder bolts, eye bolts, T-bolts and threaded rods. See parts from a sample for the broader service, or obsolete fasteners for a wider range of discontinued fastener types.

Common Situations We Handle

  • OEM machine bolts discontinued when the manufacturer stopped supporting the model
  • Vintage vehicle or motorcycle bolts no longer produced
  • Legacy industrial equipment with non-standard thread forms
  • Single sheared bolt that brought a production line down
  • Custom bolts from a supplier who has closed
  • Tooling and die set stripper bolts worn beyond service

Frequently Asked Questions

+

Any condition. Broken shanks, stripped threads, heavy corrosion — we work with what you have. Send photos first if you are unsure whether the sample is usable and we will advise before you post it.

+

Yes. We gauge the thread using pitch gauges and optical measurement. We identify metric, UNC, UNF, BSW, BSF, BA and other legacy forms — including non-standard pitches. See also non-standard thread bolts for that specific service.

+

No. Part numbers are useful if you have them but not required. We identify the material from the sample and select the appropriate equivalent for the reproduction.

+

Typically 5–10 working days from receiving the sample. Measurement and drawing take 1–2 days, then we confirm with you before machining. Rush turnaround is possible for simple bolt forms.

+

Yes, including a single piece. Single bolts for machine repair are normal orders. There is no tooling cost on machined fasteners so one bolt is fully viable.

+

A compatible replacement to the same form, fit and function. We do not reproduce branded OEM products and do not imply affiliation with the original manufacturer.
