MOQ 1 piece for CNC-machined parts. For injection-molded parts, the economics depend on tooling amortisation — typically MOQ 50–200 pieces is where injection molding becomes cost-effective, but we can supply small quantities from CNC or vacuum casting before tooling is justified.

What materials do you use for payment terminal housings?

ABS for most outer housings and battery covers — good impact resistance, easy to surface-finish. PC/ABS blend for handheld terminals needing higher drop resistance. Polycarbonate for scanner windows and clear windows. Aluminium 6061 for machined chassis, mounting rails, or premium housings. We recommend the optimal material for your specific application.

How long does it take to get a prototype terminal housing?

CNC-machined prototype: 7–12 business days from approved CAD. Vacuum cast prototype: 10–15 business days. If starting from a sample with no CAD, add 5–7 business days for reverse engineering and CAD reconstruction. We confirm lead time in your quote.

Do you make all the structural parts for a terminal, or just individual parts?

Both. We manufacture individual parts (just the housing, just the battery cover) or complete structural sets — all parts manufactured in the same batch, assembled and fit-verified before shipping. Most clients who build a new product find it easier to source the complete structural set from one supplier rather than managing tolerances across multiple.

What is the difference between prototyping and production for terminal parts?

Accepted Answer

Prototypes are manufactured by CNC machining or vacuum casting — 1–20 pieces, suitable for fit testing and functional testing, no tooling investment. Production is injection molding from aluminium tooling — economical from around 200–500 pieces upward. The same CAD is used for both; no re-design needed when moving from prototype to production.

Can you keep terminal designs confidential?

Mold texture (matte, fine grain, leather grain), spray paint in any RAL or Pantone colour, UV-resistant clear coating, soft-touch rubber-feel paint, pad printing for logos and markings. We confirm the surface specification before committing to tooling.
