In CT angiography, MRI with contrast, and cardiac catheterization, iodinated contrast media must be injected at precise flow rates (typically 3–6 ml/s for CT, up to 10 ml/s for cardiac) and volumes (50–150ml per study) under controlled pressure. Manual injection is not feasible at these parameters — a power injector is required. The disposable syringe kit is the interface between the power injector machine and the patient's IV line.
The syringe barrel mounts into the injector head, which drives the plunger at the programmed rate. The extension tube connects the syringe to the patient's IV cannula. The J-type aspirator tube connects to the contrast vial for aspiration. All three components must be rated to the same pressure standard and confirmed compatible with the specific injector platform in use — this is the primary quality concern for radiology procurement teams.
| Injector Brand & Model | Our Compatible Syringe | Adapter Required | Max Flow Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medrad Stellant CT (D platform) | 150ml · 100ml · 65ml | Medrad D-adapter | 10 ml/s |
| Medrad Spectris Solaris MR | 65ml · 100ml | Medrad M-adapter | 5 ml/s |

| Ulrich Missouri CT | 150ml · 100ml · 65ml | Ulrich adapter | 10 ml/s |
| Bayer Stellant (CT/MR) | 150ml · 100ml | Bayer adapter | 10 ml/s |

Medical-grade polypropylene barrel with full optical clarity for air bubble visual detection. The barrel wall thickness is designed to withstand 325 psi working pressure with a safety factor of 1.5x (487 psi proof test). The plunger uses a TPE seal that provides consistent friction characteristics throughout the stroke — essential for accurate flow rate delivery by the injector pump. Each barrel is individually tested before assembly.
The J-shaped aspiration tube allows a single radiographer to draw contrast from a vial without an assistant. The vial spike end pierces standard contrast media vials (Omnipaque, Ultravist, Visipaque, Optiray and others). The J profile holds the vial at an angle that allows complete aspiration while keeping the operator's hands free. Rated to the same pressure as the syringe barrel.
The extension tube connects the syringe output to the patient's IV cannula. Our braided tube uses a high-tensile nylon reinforcement layer that allows it to withstand 1200 psi — more than 3x the syringe barrel rating — providing a margin of safety for pressure spikes during rapid injection. The kink-resistant design is important in the tight space around CT and MRI patient tables. Available in 100cm (standard) and 150cm for larger room configurations. Also sold separately — see our high-pressure extension tube page.
Radiology department equipment managers and procurement teams evaluating contrast injector syringe suppliers should consider the following factors beyond unit price:
Complete your contrast injection setup: pair with our disposable angiography catheters, high-pressure extension tubes, and contrast injection stopcocks — all from a single CE-certified supplier.
Our 150ml syringe is designed to fit Medrad Stellant CT and MRI injectors (D and M platforms), Nemoto A-60 and A-60 Plus, Ulrich Missouri CT and MR, Bayer Stellant and Spectris Solaris, and Guerbet OptiVantage. Platform-specific adapter rings are available for each brand. Specify your injector model when ordering to ensure correct adapter is included.
The syringe barrel is rated to 325 psi (22.4 bar) working pressure, tested at 487 psi (1.5x rated). The included braided extension tube is rated to 1200 psi (82.7 bar). Maximum clinical flow rate is 10 ml/s at rated pressure. For specialized high-flow protocols exceeding 10 ml/s, contact us for reinforced syringe options.
We stock 65ml, 100ml, 150ml, and 200ml in the same kit configuration. All volumes include the J-type aspirator tube and high-pressure extension line. Custom volumes outside these four sizes are available at 500 sets MOQ with 30-45 day tooling lead time.
Yes. Standard plunger seals are TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) — already low-silicone. A fully silicone-free variant is available for facilities with strict protocols against silicone oil contamination, such as those handling protein therapeutics or performing MRI where silicone artifacts are a concern. Specify at order.
Yes. The polypropylene barrel has no tinting or additives — full optical clarity for visual air bubble inspection before injection. This is a mandatory clinical requirement in most radiology protocols. Batch quality control includes clarity inspection under standardized lighting conditions.
Each individually EO-sterilized kit contains: one syringe barrel with plunger assembly, one J-type aspiration tube (for single-operator contrast vial drawing), one high-pressure braided extension line (100cm standard), and one platform-specific adapter ring. All pre-assembled and sealed in a single peel-pack for fast setup in the radiology suite.
Yes. High-pressure extension tubes (T-type, Y-type, and straight) are available separately in bulk. See our dedicated high-pressure extension tube page for full specifications. Bulk tube orders are commonly placed by radiology departments that run mixed injector platforms but prefer a single tube supplier.
Shelf life is 3 years from EO sterilization date when stored below 25 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight and humidity above 70% RH. Each kit includes a sterilization date label and full batch traceability number.
Yes. Custom barrel label printing, peel-pack artwork, outer carton printing, and custom adapter selection from 500 sets MOQ. Many of our distributor clients in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia run their own branded injector kits using EKINSUN-manufactured syringes. CE documentation is supplied under your product name.
The J-shaped aspiration tube has a spike at one end for vial piercing and a Luer-lock connection at the other end that attaches directly to the syringe. The curved J profile allows single-hand aspiration without an assistant holding the contrast vial, which reduces setup time and contamination risk in busy radiology suites. The tube is rated to the same pressure as the syringe barrel.
Standard documentation package: CE declaration of conformity, ISO 13485 manufacturing certificate, EO sterilization validation certificate, and batch certificate of analysis (CoA) with dimensional and functional test results. Full technical file available under NDA for EU authorized representative review or FDA 510k submission support.
Yes. Our polypropylene barrel is rated for contrast media pre-warmed to 37 degrees Celsius (body temperature), which is standard practice to reduce viscosity of iodinated contrast agents. The barrel maintains dimensional stability and seal integrity at this temperature. Do not use above 40 degrees Celsius.
