Why Machine Custom Titanium Bolts

Off-the-shelf titanium fasteners come in a narrow range of standard metric sizes. When you need a non-standard thread pitch, a special length, a socket cap head instead of hex, or a diameter the catalogue doesn't carry — machining from billet is the only path. EKINSUN cuts titanium bolts to your exact specification in small to medium quantities, including one-off prototype runs.

For motorcycle and bicycle builders replacing OEM steel hardware, we machine a compatible titanium bolt to the same thread, length and head type as the original — so it fits with no modification. The result is typically 40–45% lighter per bolt, corrosion-resistant without coating, and available in anodised colours.

Grade Selection

Grade 5 — Ti6Al4V

High strength (900–1000 MPa UTS), about 56% the density of steel. Standard choice for motorcycle engine, frame and brake caliper bolts where a like-for-like steel replacement is needed at lower weight.

Grade 2 — CP Titanium

Lower strength but superior corrosion resistance — ideal for marine hardware, chemical environments and body-contact applications where Grade 5 alloy is unnecessary.

Replacing OEM steel bolts on a motorcycle or bicycle? Send us the original steel bolt (or its part number and spec) and we machine a compatible titanium replacement to the same form and fit. We make a compatible part — not an OEM product — and do not claim affiliation with the original manufacturer. See replacement bolts from a sample for how the process works.

Frequently Asked Questions

+

Grade 5 (Ti6Al4V) for high-strength applications such as motorcycle engine, frame and caliper bolts. Grade 2 commercially pure titanium for maximum corrosion resistance in marine or chemical environments. We advise on grade selection when you describe the application and loading.

+

Yes. We machine a compatible titanium bolt to the same thread, length and head type as your original steel fastener. It fits and functions in place of the original. We do not claim affiliation with the original manufacturer and do not use brand names on our parts.

+

Yes. Titanium anodising uses voltage-controlled oxidation to create interference colours — gold, blue, purple, bronze and green — without dye. The colour is part of the surface oxide and will not chip or peel. Tell us the colour you need and we match it as closely as the process allows.

+

Grade 5 titanium is about 56% the density of alloy steel, so each bolt weighs roughly 44% less. On a motorcycle where 80–120 fasteners are replaced, the total weight saving is typically 300–600 g depending on bolt sizes.

+

Yes. Single bolts and sets of 4–10 for motorcycle builds and prototypes are normal orders. There is no tooling cost for machined titanium fasteners so small quantities are fully viable.

+

Yes. Send the bolt and we measure the thread, head, drive and all dimensions, rebuild the drawing for free, confirm the spec with you, then machine. No part number or CAD file needed.
