Turbine and compressor impellers are among the most technically demanding CNC parts to produce. Their twisted, compound-curved blade profiles cannot be machined on 3-axis equipment — they require 5-axis simultaneous machining where the cutting tool moves in all five axes simultaneously to follow the blade surface.
EKINSUN operates 5-axis machining centers capable of producing impeller blade profiles from a wide range of metals including steel, titanium, aluminum, and nickel alloys (Inconel). We machine custom impellers for turbocharger development, jet propulsion research, pump applications, and industrial turbomachinery.
Impeller geometry is typically defined by a CAD model. However, we also accept hand-drawn blade cross-sections with wrap angles and hub profiles defined, and we can reverse-engineer existing impellers from physical measurement. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

Impeller blades have twisted, compound-curved surfaces that are undercut relative to the hub — meaning the cutting tool must tilt and rotate simultaneously to reach all surfaces. 3-axis machining cannot access these surfaces without leaving material. 5-axis simultaneous machining allows the tool to follow the blade profile from hub to tip in a single continuous motion.
We machine impellers in aluminum 6061 and 7075 (compressor wheels), carbon and alloy steels (turbine wheels), titanium Grade 5 (weight-critical aerospace), stainless steel 316L (pump impellers), and Inconel 625/718 (high-temperature turbine applications).
Yes. MOQ is 1 piece. Prototype impellers are a core part of our work — development engineers typically need 1-3 prototypes to validate a design before committing to production tooling.
