Custom Tri-Clamp Adapters

Need a tri-clamp ferrule on one end and a thread that isn't in any sanitary catalog on the other — a metric port, a BSPT valve, an odd flange bolt pattern? We machine the adapter to order: ferrule to DIN 32676 / ASME BPE dimensions so your clamp and gasket fit, the other end cut to whatever the equipment actually carries. 304 or 316L stainless, polished contact faces, MOQ 1, no CAD. Why machine a tri-clamp adapter instead of buying one

Off-the-shelf tri-clamp adapters cover the well-trodden pairs: clamp × male NPT, clamp × female NPT, clamp × hose barb, in a handful of sizes. Step outside that — a ferrule onto an M20×1.5 instrument port, a BSPT-threaded tank fitting, a 3/8" compression line, or a bolt-flange interface on older process equipment — and the catalogs go quiet. Breweries retrofitting imported kit, food plants marrying new skids to legacy lines, and lab or extraction equipment builders hit this constantly. Each of these is a single turned part for us: ferrule end to standard, custom end to reality.

Configurations we machine

CLAMP × NPT / ZG

Male or female taper thread behind the ferrule — the classic process-to-plumbing conversion, in your size, not just the stocked ones.

CLAMP × BSP / G / METRIC

Parallel threads with shoulder seal — G3/4 CIP connections, M20×1.5 sensor ports, European tank fittings.

CLAMP × HOSE BARB

Barb profile matched to your actual hose ID — including odd and metric hoses catalog barbs skip.

CLAMP × FLANGE

Bolt-hole flange to ferrule adapters for legacy equipment — pattern copied from your part or drawing.

REDUCING CLAMP × CLAMP

Two ferrule sizes in one turned body where a gasket-and-reducer stack would add joints.

CAPS, SPUDS & PORTED BODIES

End caps with welded-in or machined ports, thermowell spuds, sample-valve bosses — one-off process oddities.

Ferrule sizes — measure the flange, not the tube

The single most common RFQ error is quoting the tube size when the clamp size is what matters. Measure the ferrule flange OD with a caliper and read it off this table:

Nominal clamp sizeFerrule flange ODNote
1/2" – 3/4" (mini)25.0 mmShared mini ferrule
1" (mini)34.0 mm
1" – 1.5"50.5 mmShared — the classic mix-up size
2"64.0 mm
2.5"77.5 mm
3"91.0 mm
4"119.0 mm

Ferrule ends are machined to DIN 32676 / ASME BPE groove and face dimensions, so standard clamps and gaskets (silicone, EPDM, PTFE, Viton) seat exactly as they do on catalog fittings. DIN-series and ISO-series ferrule dimensions differ from the inch series — if your plant runs DIN 11851 or ISO 2852 hardware instead, say so and we cut to that standard.

  • Contact-face finish: machined and polished to Ra 0.8 µm (32 µin) standard; finer electro-polish-ready finish on request.
  • Crevice control: bore transitions blended, no blind threads in the product path, gasket face square to the bore.
  • Marking: laser-etched size, alloy and your part number — off the product-contact surfaces.

Not sure it's even "tri-clamp"? Send a photo of the joint with a ruler across the flange. We identify DIN, ISO and inch-series sanitary hardware — and the thread on the other side — as part of the free drawing. Or mail us the old fitting and we reverse engineer it.

Frequently asked

What tri-clamp size do I have?

Measure the ferrule flange OD: 25 mm = 1/2"–3/4" mini · 34 mm = 1" mini · 50.5 mm = 1"–1.5" · 64 mm = 2" · 77.5 mm = 2.5" · 91 mm = 3" · 119 mm = 4". The 50.5 mm ferrule serves both 1" and 1.5" clamps — a caliper reading beats a nominal size every time.

Can you machine a tri-clamp to a metric or odd thread?

Yes — that's the reason to machine instead of buy. Ferrule × M20×1.5, × BSPT, × left-hand, × garden hose: the ferrule end stays to DIN 32676 / ASME BPE so your clamp and gasket fit, the other end matches your equipment.

304 or 316L?

316L for wetted product-contact duty (the ASME BPE assumption); 304 for utilities, CIP and brewing at lower cost; 6061 aluminum where the part never touches product. Tell us the media — the right alloy goes on the drawing.

Do you polish the contact surfaces?

Gasket face and bore polished to Ra 0.8 µm standard, finer on request, crevice-free transitions. CNC turned in one setup for concentricity.

Send the two ends and the media. "2" tri-clamp to 3/4 BSPT male, 316L, hot CIP loop" — that's a complete RFQ. Free drawing first, quote in 24–48 hours. Get a quote →
