The compression, cam or draw latch that's no longer made — or the one metal part of it that broke and isn't sold separately. Send us what's left and we machine the replacement.
A latch fails in one of two annoying ways. Either the whole latch is discontinued — a compression latch off an older boat, a cam latch on an enclosure whose maker has gone — or the latch is fine except for the one metal part that snapped: the handle, the cam, the draw hook, the lever. And that part is almost never sold on its own, so you're told to buy the entire assembly, if you can even find it.
Straight talk: a current, standard latch is cheap to buy complete — if that's an option, take it. We're for the latch you can't buy: a discontinued one, a marine-grade upgrade, or the single broken metal component that isn't offered separately.
We machine the metal parts — reproduced from your sample or made to your sizes:
| Latch type | The metal part we machine |
|---|---|
| Compression latch | Handle and cam that draw a door tight against its gasket |
| Cam latch (quarter-turn) | The cam that swings behind the frame as the latch turns |
| Draw / toggle latch | The over-centre hook, loop and lever that pull two surfaces together |
| Slam / spring latch | The strike, keeper and machined body the spring works against |
| Paddle / quarter-turn | The paddle, body and cam of panel and access latches |
Scope: we manufacture the machined metal components above. We don't make springs or keyed cylinders — where a latch needs them, we reproduce the metal parts and fit standard springs.
316 stainless for saltwater and deck exposure; brass where you want corrosion resistance with a traditional finish.
316 stainless →304 stainless, steel and aluminium for enclosure, panel and equipment latches — strong, with plating or anodising.
304 stainless →Hardened cams, hooks and pins where the latch sees high cycles — tougher than the die-cast originals.
From a sample →Mail the latch or the broken part, or send photos with the cutout size and key dimensions. We confirm what's usable first.
We capture the profile, cutout, throw and mating detail, and rebuild the CAD to the original geometry. How reverse engineering works →
You approve the drawing (free), then we machine, finish and check it against your sample. Reproducing from a sample →
No CAD, no part number, no problem. Rebuilding the geometry is our job — free, and confirmed with you before anything is cut. See how to order with no CAD file.
A note on branded latches. We make a compatible replacement to the original's form, fit and function from what you supply. We don't sell branded original products or imply affiliation with any hardware brand.
Yes. Send the old latch or photos and we reproduce its machined metal parts from the sample — including compression, cam and draw latches for boats, RVs, enclosures and equipment the original maker no longer sells.
Yes — one of the most common latch jobs. When the body is fine but the cam, handle, hook or lever has snapped or worn, we machine that single metal component to match the original so you don't replace the whole latch.
The machined metal parts of compression latches (handles and cams), cam latches (cams), draw/toggle latches (hooks and levers), slam latches (strikes and keepers) and latch bodies. We don't manufacture springs or keyed cylinders; for those we reproduce the machined parts and fit standard springs where needed.
Yes. For saltwater and deck exposure we machine latch components in 316 stainless, with 304 and brass also available, so the part resists corrosion where a plated or zinc latch would seize and stain.
Yes. Compression and cam latches mount in a D-shaped, round or square panel cutout. We work to your existing cutout and panel thickness so the new latch or component fits the hole that's already there.
Yes — one piece, no setup fee on machined parts. A single replacement cam or handle is welcome, and we also make matched sets for a refit or a fleet of identical doors and hatches.
Send the latch or photos with the cutout and key sizes and you get a quote within 24 hours. After approval a single machined part is usually days, not weeks. CAD reconstruction is free with your quote.
