M27×1.75 Nut — the Nut No Catalogue Lists, Turned to the ISO 4032 Envelope or Your Own

A stud, spindle, tie-rod or axle end with an M27×1.75 thread has lost its nut, or needs a second one, and no supplier lists the size? Every M27 nut on the shelf is ×3, ×2 or ×1.5. We turn M27×1.75 nuts in the ISO 4032 envelope or to your own height and shape, from one piece. No drawing needed: a photo with a rule, the measurements in a message, the old part or its part number is enough; we draw it, you approve, we machine. Get a quote →

M27×1.75 hex nut, thin nut and coupling nut in stainless steel beside an M27×1.75 stud with a nut fitted, made by EKINSUN
Three of the forms we turn at this pitch: hex nut in the ISO 4032 envelope, thin nut, and an 81 mm coupling nut, with a hex nut run onto an M27×1.75 stud.

Why the nut is missing from every catalogue

EKINSUN LTD is a custom parts manufacturer that turns special-pitch threads from two callouts, one piece up. Nut standards follow thread standards. ISO 4032 hex nuts are cut at the ISO 261 coarse pitch, M27×3; fine-pitch nuts to ISO 8673 cover M27×2 and M27×1.5. A 1.75 mm pitch exists in ISO 261 only at M12, so no nut standard reaches M27×1.75, no nut maker stocks it, and a lost nut on an M27×1.75 stud cannot be replaced with anything but a machined one.

Nut forms we turn with an M27×1.75 thread

The thread is single-point cut and gauged go/no-go with our own M27×1.75-6H plug gauge; the outside follows the standard nut outline or your own. The ISO 4032 envelope gives 13.6 turns of engagement at this pitch.

Check the stud before ordering the nut

A nut that will not run on is more often a pitch problem than a damage problem. Read ten threads with a rule: 17.5 mm is M27×1.75, 15 mm is M27×1.5, 20 mm is M27×2. If the stud is damaged at the mouth, tell us; the nut can be made with a lead-in chamfer that clears a bruised first thread, or we make the stud too.

Material and strength for a turned nut

ISO 898-2 property classes belong to nuts made and tested to that standard at standard pitches, so a turned M27×1.75 nut is specified by material instead. It ships with a material certificate and, on request, a hardness report.

Price, lead time, delivery

There is no list price for a special-pitch part; a single piece starts from €65 and is quoted within 12 hours. One to a few dozen pieces ship in 5 working days, 50 to 500 in 15 working days, delivered DDP to your door with duties in the quote. The first piece is the sample; repeat orders run to the same drawing, with 500-piece and 1,000-piece runs priced lower per piece.

Frequently asked

Can I buy an M27×1.75 nut?

No catalogue lists one. Hex nuts to ISO 4032 are made at M27×3, and fine-pitch nuts at M27×2 and M27×1.5; an M27×1.75 nut is turned to order. We cut it in the ISO 4032 envelope, 41 mm across flats and 23.8 mm high, or to any height and shape you specify, from one piece.

Will an M27×2 or M27×1.5 nut run onto an M27×1.75 stud?

It will start and jam within three turns. The pitch difference is 0.25 mm per thread either way, 2.5 mm over ten threads, and the flanks cross. Forcing it damages the stud, which is usually the part that cannot be replaced.

What height and across-flats does an M27×1.75 hex nut get?

By default the ISO 4032 envelope for M27: 41 mm across flats, 45.2 mm minimum across corners, 23.8 mm high, which gives 13.6 turns of engagement at 1.75 mm pitch. Thin nuts follow the ISO 4035 outline at the height you specify; a coupling nut runs 81 mm long at the DIN 6334 proportion of three diameters.

Is there a KM-type slotted bearing nut in M27×1.75?

The KM series has no M27 size at all: KM4 is M20×1, KM5 is M25×1.5, KM6 is M30×1.5 and KM7 is M35×1.5. A slotted round nut with an M27×1.75 thread is made to order to the KM outline you choose, with the locking-washer tab slot if you use one.

What strength class can an M27×1.75 nut have?

ISO 898-2 property classes are assigned to nuts made and tested to that standard at standard pitches. A turned M27×1.75 nut is supplied with a material certificate and, on request, a hardness report; in 42CrMo4 quenched and tempered its proof load matches or exceeds a class 10 nut of the same height, but it does not carry a class marking.

How much does an M27×1.75 nut cost?

There is no list price. A single nut starts from €65 and is quoted within 12 hours; ten or more pieces share the setup and cost far less each. Lead time is 5 working days for small quantities, delivered DDP to your door.

Tell us the nut. "M27×1.75 hex nut, 41 A/F, 316, 4 pieces" is enough; add a photo of the stud if the pitch is uncertain. Quote in 12 hours, MOQ 1. Get a quote →
