A UCP 205 pillow block has a 36.5 mm centre height, a 140 mm base with bolts 105 mm apart and a 25 mm bore; a replacement housing has to keep those three figures and may change everything else. The table gives UCP 204 to 212 with centre height, length, bolt spacing, slots, bolts and insert bearing; the sections below say which dimensions a remade housing keeps, what to make it from, and when a catalogue unit is the better buy. Housings in steel, stainless or aluminium from the old part, a drawing or the size are made from 1 piece; the insert bearing stays a catalogue part.
Send the housing size, shaft and bolt pattern →Nine pillow blocks cover shafts from 20 to 60 mm: the UCP 204 stands 33.3 mm high on a 127 mm base with bolts 95 mm apart, the UCP 212 69.8 mm high on 241 mm with bolts 184 mm apart. The table gives every size with the slot, bolt and insert bearing. EKINSUN LTD is a custom parts manufacturer that machines housings to these dimensions, or to the dimensions a machine needs that no catalogue unit has, and leaves the bearing itself to the bearing makers.

A housing in one of these sizes, or between them? Send the UCP size or the old housing with a rule, the shaft, the material and the quantity. Standard cast-iron units can also be supplied from stock; remade housings are machined from 1 piece, and the more pieces, the lower the unit price. Quote in 12 hours.
Dimensions per one housing maker’s UCP 200 table; shaft, centre height, length and bolt spacing for UCP 204 to 210 and the bolt sizes checked against a second published table, which lists M14 where the first lists M12 for the UCP 206. Insert bearing outside diameters are the 62-series values the UC inserts share; widths as the housing table prints them.
Three figures carry over from a UCP 205 to its remade housing: the 36.5 mm centre height H, the 105 mm bolt spacing J and the 25 mm shaft size d. H keeps the shaft in line with the bearing at the other end, J puts the housing on the holes already in the frame, d keeps the catalogue insert bearing with its 52 mm sphere. The remade housing may then be 120 or 160 mm long, 15 or 20 mm thick at the base, and have its grease point wherever the machine can reach it.

| Keep | Why | Free to change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Centre height H | to the tenth of a millimetre | the shaft must stay in line with the bearing at the other end; 0.3 mm out loads both bearings | — |
| Bolt spacing J | yes, with the slot width N | the frame is already drilled | slot length, a round hole instead of a slot, a tapped base (UCPA style) |
| Bore and seat | the insert’s spherical diameter | the UC 204–212 insert bearing stays a catalogue part | a cylindrical seat for a 62-series bearing with its own seals, if the insert is to go |
| Body | — | material, length L, base thickness, grease point position, a foot that stands out of the frame |
Five housing forms carry the same insert bearings for shafts from 20 to 60 mm, and the one to remake is the one whose mounting no longer matches the machine: a pillow block for a flat rail, a square or oval flange for a wall, a take-up unit in a slide frame, and the split housing for a shaft that cannot be pulled through a solid bore.
| Form | Catalogue name | Mounts | Remade when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pillow block | UCP (2 bolts), UCPA (tapped base) | on a flat rail or frame, shaft parallel to it | centre height between sizes, bolt pattern from an old machine, stainless body |
| Square flange | UCF (4 bolts) | through a wall or plate, shaft perpendicular | a plate with holes that match the machine, not the catalogue square |
| Oval flange | UCFL (2 bolts) | where the square does not fit | narrow space, offset holes |
| Take-up | UCT in a slide frame | on a belt or chain tensioner | the slide frame is worn or the travel is wrong |
| Split housing | SN / SNL series for larger shafts | on a shaft that cannot be pulled | a worn split housing on a mill, fan or conveyor drum; cap and base machined as a matched pair |
A flange, take-up or split housing? send the form, the shaft, the bolt pattern it must match and the material; machined from 1 piece.
Catalogue housings are grey cast iron because a pattern pays for itself over thousands of pieces; a remade housing in 1 to 10 pieces is machined from block, and the block can be steel, stainless or aluminium. Steel at catalogue dimensions is the plain drop-in; 304 or 316L stainless answers the corroded unit on a wash-down line; 6061 aluminium with a liner suits a light machine that is lifted by hand.
| Material | Grade | Where it fits | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey cast iron | EN-GJL-250 (GG25) | the catalogue material; damping, cheap in series | for 1 to 10 pieces a pattern costs more than the housing; machined from block instead |
| Steel | S355 or C45, machined from block | one-offs and small runs, heavy loads, welded frames | a steel housing of catalogue dimensions is a drop-in; paint or zinc plate |
| Stainless | 304 (1.4301), 316L (1.4404) | wash-down, food, marine, chemical plant | with a stainless insert bearing; 316L where chlorides are present |
| Aluminium | 6061 (AlMg1SiCu) | light loads, low mass, lab and packaging machines | a steel or bronze liner in the seat where the bearing is changed often |
| Bronze liner | CuSn7Zn4Pb7 (Rg7) | the seat itself in an aluminium or iron body | takes the wear of repeated bearing changes |
The grey-iron and ductile-iron grades, and when a casting still pays, are on cast iron vs ductile iron and custom cast parts.
Three parts beside the bearing wear with it on a 20 to 60 mm shaft: the housing seat, the shaft journal under the bearing, and the KM lock nut or adapter sleeve that holds it, which is lost or stripped. The housing is this page; the shaft with its journal, keyway and thread is on custom keyed shafts; the KM, AN and special lock nuts on bearing lock nuts; and identifying a bearing from what survives on bearing reverse engineering. Sprockets and pulleys on the same shaft sit on taper bushes.
A standard UCP in cast iron, 127 to 241 mm long, costs less to buy than any housing costs to machine, and for a catalogue size that is the answer. The remade housing starts where the catalogue stops: the size between sizes, the old bolt pattern, the stainless body, the split housing and the discontinued unit.
| What you need | On the shelf? | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| A standard UCP or UCF unit in cast iron with a UC insert bearing | Yes — every bearing distributor | Buy it there, or ask us: standard units can also be supplied from stock; the insert bearing we do not make. |
| A centre height or bolt spacing between two catalogue sizes, or matching an old machine | No | Housing machined to your H and J with the catalogue seat, from 1 piece. |
| The same unit in stainless steel or aluminium | Stainless in a few sizes | Machined from 304, 316L or 6061 to the catalogue dimensions or yours. |
| A split housing for a shaft that cannot be pulled | In the SN series for larger shafts | Cap and base machined as a pair, bored together; dowelled so they go back the same way. |
| A housing from a machine whose maker no longer supplies it | No | Remade from the old part: seat, centre height and bolt pattern measured, worn seat restored to size. |
| The rolling bearing itself, a bearing with a special internal clearance | Yes — the bearing makers | Not what we make: we machine the housing, the shaft and the lock nut; the bearing comes from its maker. |
For distributors the housing ships without the EKINSUN name, labelled with the distributor’s part number, to the distributor or straight to the plant. Conveyor and drum housings in the same situation are on conveyor replacement parts.
Six details price a housing for a 20 to 60 mm shaft: the UCP or UCF size, or the old housing beside a rule; the shaft diameter; the centre height and bolt spacing it must keep; the form (pillow, flange, take-up, split); the material; and the quantity. A photo of the housing on the machine shows what the base has to clear. Quote in 12 hours; approval drawing with H, J and the seat before machining.
Shaft 25 mm, centre height H 36.5 mm, overall length L 140 mm, bolt spacing J 105 mm, base width 38 mm, bolt slots 13 mm wide for M10 bolts, overall height 71 mm, with a UC 205 insert bearing of 52 mm spherical outside diameter and 34.1 mm width. The UCP 204 shares the 127 × 95 mm footprint with a 20 mm shaft; the UCP 206 steps up to 165 × 121 mm for 30 mm.
Three: the centre height H, so the shaft stays in line with the other bearing; the bolt spacing J, so it bolts to the same holes; and the shaft size d, so the same insert bearing fits. Everything else — material, base length, slot length, grease point, seal — can change. A housing that keeps H and J but is machined from steel instead of cast iron is a drop-in.
Yes. Catalogue units are grey cast iron; a remade housing is machined from 304 (1.4301) or 316L (1.4404) stainless for wash-down, food or marine lines, with the same H, J and bore, and takes a stainless insert bearing. Thermoplastic housings exist for light loads but hold tolerance less well; stainless is the usual choice when the catalogue unit corrodes.
No. The UC 204 to UC 212 insert bearing stays a standard catalogue part; the remade housing keeps the spherical seat that matches its outside diameter, 47 mm for UC 204 up to 110 mm for UC 212, so the bearing is bought locally and dropped in. Only the housing is machined to order.
When the catalogue unit does not fit: a centre height between two sizes, a bolt pattern that matches an old machine, a stainless or aluminium body, a split housing on a shaft that cannot be pulled, or a discontinued unit on an older machine. A standard UCP in cast iron is cheaper to buy than to make, and we say so.
EKINSUN — a custom parts manufacturer in Shenzhen that machines pillow blocks, flange housings and split housings from the old part, a drawing or the UCP size, in steel, stainless or aluminium, keeping the centre height, bolt spacing and bearing seat; from 1 piece; neutral packaging and delivery to the end customer for distributors. The insert bearing stays a catalogue part. Quote in 12 hours.
